Behind the Brand

First of all, thank you for taking the time to not only visit my website but to learn about the girl behind THE SHOP.

Growing up on a cow-calf operation, I learned from a young age the importance of hard work- and just how far a good work ethic will take you. From herd health management, calving seasons, and showing cattle throughout the Midwest, I enjoyed being hands on with every aspect of our family operation. I went on to complete incredible internships revolving around agriculture. I met my husband while showing cattle, and my husband and I now operate our very own purebred Angus operation. 

Although cattle was always a common denominator in a majority of my friendships and extra-curricular activities, there was another common denominator that sprouted confidence in myself at a young age. Fashion.

I give ALL the credit for my love of fashion to my mother, her sister, and my cousin. These ladies are never afraid to try a new trend and push the limits. They were (and still are) the best dressed in the room. They don't see being overdressed as a true statement. You can never be overdressed. 

I remember testing the limits in high school with my fashion choices, not feeling like I belonged in my ag-based college dorm, and during my college career I eventually found my calling. I landed a job in the cutest boutique in town, J.Ella! 

I quickly fell in love with the retail world. Helping women find what made them confident, selecting pieces at market I knew our shoppers would love, and learning from a true leader as my boss- I was beyond fortunate to work in this boutique. Not only did I learn about the retail world, but one of my coworkers became my close friend and then... my sister in law!!! My time spent at J.Ella formed incredible relationships with women from the Brookings area and the best relationship of all, my Husband. 

I could go on and on about my love for fashion, and helping women find their style but I am going to wrap this up- and save my fashion tips for another blog post. Thank you again for visiting THE SHOP and supporting my family. I can't wait to see you love your new wardrobe pieces!
